GHOST TOWN - KiddofSpeed - Chernobyl Pictures - Kidofspeed - Elena
Very nice piece of work. This is a photo essay in which the rider/writer tours the gost towns surrounding Chernobyl.
The good question here is why aren't reporters from the major News organizations doing these features instead of five weeks of Terri Shaivo and The Pope?

What the fuck?
I just saw a news piece that talked about a 13 year beating to death a 15 year old because of the older kid teasing the younger about a baseball game hit lost.
Ironically as I type this post I am listening to Joey Ramones version of What a Beautiful World...What the hell is going on?
One kid is dead and the other just lost his life and all for what? For a baseball game? Where were the parents and ump's and coaches to stop the beating?
What in the world is going on?
I usually feel that I have all the answers to everything yet this story disturbs me. And what is even more fucked up is that this will barley make a dent in the news, no, the Terri Shaivo case will take more headlines than this.
It's shit like this that makes me call out onto God...WHAT THE FUCK?
Are we to dance this crazy dance of existence all alone? Cause if we are we are really doing a shitty job at it and are in need of an instructor.
FUCK!

So John Paul the II is dead and the world mourns. But why does a funeral become such a spectacle?
Like the funeral for Ronald Reagan the funeral for John Paul the II has been more about men who are still alive trying to write history or at least put a spin on it before historians, real historians, 50 years from now get their hands on it.
Throughout the last week we have heard nothing but how great a man John Paul the II was and what his legacy will be for the church and how much he did for the church. There have been claims that he, not Reagan or Gorbechev, ended Communism in eastern Europe and later Russia itself. Very big claims.
I have come away with this, the Church has lost its message of the Christ and is only concerned with the men that run it. Why, if the pontiff was so concerned with being "Christ-like" did he not choose a humble burial like his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? No, he opted to have his advisors "choose" so he would have nothing to do with it.
A few things come to mind when I think of this pope, the first is that when the scandals about child abuse broke out in America he did NOTHING! Actually, he rewarded Cardinal Law by taking him to Italy. And the second is when the terrorist attacked America he chose to...not call evil where he saw it by which in turn he emboldened the enemy. One who refuses to acknowledge evil and confront it is one who sides with evil even if he is not evil himself.
The pope was a man who made good and bad choices like any other man. And like the rest of us his remains will wither away in time no better or worst. The outcry of people for this man is just another indication of how desperate our generation has become for heroes. A desperation that has made mediocrity easily confused with heroism.

Just got in from seeing Frank Millers Sin City and all I can say is WOW! Great film and the way they shot it just makes it BRILLIANT.
Films will never be the same again (assuming Hollywood doesn't fuck it up) because Sin City has proved that comic books and films have merged into one lane.
Mickey Rouke did a great job and the women are just HOT!
The dialog was a bit cheesy but it's all a dark camp, a great homage to Film Noir. No, not a great homage but a resurrection of this style of story telling. Hopefully this is just the start; America is really in need of good art.

The breaking news story at this moment (at least on the BBC) is that the US has stopped looking for weapons of mass destruction. What pisses me off about this is that a few weeks ago George Tenet, the CIA director whom assured the President that these weapons were there got awarded the highest medal a civilian can get in the US, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Why?
Look, I have said before and I will say it again. I was for this war on the principle that if there was the possibility of a threat we should not take any chances. I was never in favor of freeing these people.
The story/reasons for this war have changed and since the Administration does not feel that changing these is an issue then neither should we. My opinion is now clear, get out of this fucking place and fuck these people. If they get out of hand bomb the shit out of them. We should not continue to risk out children, brothers, and sisters lives for a people who have as much common sense as a goat on a slaughter table.

We fear the very things we are. I say this not because I am trying to create moral equivalences with issues like terrorism for example, but because it seems like a natural response to everyday circumstances. And while it may seem too simple an answer remember that the complex infrastructure on which you are viewing this train-of-thought is based on a simple coding language of 0's and 1's.
We hate the terrorist (and their ideology) because deep down inside we are as blind to our ideology as they are to theirs. And perhaps their deep hatred of everything we are stems from the fact that they lust for what we have...They want to be like us.
The man who worries about his wife cheating might cast a shadow of doubt on her because he knows the urge of wanting another, he has experienced it. So he fears she will act on hers (assuming he has not on his). A liar recognizes a liar. We hate those who flaunt their wealth/fortune because we would do it and we can't.

I was walking my dogs last night when a thought occurred to me about how much I hate
suburbia. I mean the normalcy of it all. How everyone is rewarded for being "normal". Everyone is expected to be the same and have the same values and wants as everyone else.
Conservatives hate the equivalences that the political correct have pushed upon us. The idea that we are all equal and that there are no "losers" we are ALL winners sickens those on the right, and me too. Yet the conservatives response is that we all should be "normal" whatever that means.
I look around and these are the values I see:
BMW's
SUV
2.5 Kids
He plays golf and loves Football, she does Mary Kay and stays home with the kids
Bumper sticker to remind the world that they are proud of the 'honor roll' children (Again do you really need to advertise your pride in your child? Why don't these people take the time to tell and show their children their pride in them. Parenting via bumper stickers)
45 inch waist and that's just her
Oh, and lets not forget the MBA degree
Now, these are all nice values (I guess), but what if I don't like golf? Or perhaps I
have too much respect for my wife that I love the fact that she works and is a partner more that just a spouse? Well then you are not being 'normal'.
Fuck normalcy!
That's my rant for now.
